Summary
Tasked with redesigning ProNeuron’s webpage, creating new graphics, a flyer, and social media templates, I benchmarked competitors, researched Kela guidelines, and analyzed previous redesigns. Benchmarking revealed cohesion and cognitive accessibility issues, which I addressed through intuitive information design, improved layouts, and updated graphics, enhancing visual identity and accessibility—crucial in the client’s field. I also identified and reported technical implementation issues. The flyer and graphics were designed for cohesion and standalone impact. Minimalist social media templates further strengthened brand cohesion. Rapid iteration and testing ensured the final products met client and user needs. The project delivered a redesigned webpage, graphics, flyer, and social media templates, resolving existing usability and accessibility problems. This project honed my ability to create multiple solutions holistically and efficiently, while fully leveraging my cognitive accessibility expertise.
I was tasked with redesigning a new version of an existing webpage and designing new graphics, a flyer and social media templates for ProNeuron – therapy and medical center for neurology and psychiatry.
I started the process by benchmarking competitors to find possible shortcomings in the current state. I also researched the parts of the service that needed to be in accordance with guidelines set by Kela, The Finnish Social Insurance Institution. I also analyzed the redesigns that were previously carried out on the ProNeuron website.
Through the benchmarking I quickly found out that there were problems with cohesion and cognitive accessibility with the existing layouts that I wanted to solve with my redesigns.
The cohesion and cognitive accessibility issues were fixed with a more intuitive information design and layout. Together with new and improved graphics this created a fresh looking webpage that improved cohesion, visual identity and accessibility. Focusing on these issues was especially crucial due the field that the client works in.
I also proposed fixes to problems in the current technical implementation of the website. I found these problems during some light testing I did with developmental and accessibility tools. These findings were presented to the customer so that they would be fixed in the refreshed version that the customer implemented.
I designed a flyer and graphics that were cohesive with the existing ones as well as had a distinctive enough design so that they were also able work on their own and stand out form the others.
These were paired with minimalistic and beautiful social media templates that really heightened the client’s visual identity on social media and upgraded their overall brand cohesion.
The whole design process was executed with rapid iteration and testing in mind to ensure that the end products fit the true client and user needs.
I designed the new graphics, social media content templates as well as a flyer and redesigned the webpage for the Oma väylä rehab service. The new designs solved cohesion, cognitive accessibility and usability problems that the existing design had.
This project helped me learn how to create a set of multiple solutions on my own in order to have a holistic result to the problem at hand as well as being able to do it in a short period of time. This project really allowed me to use my knowledge of cognitive accessibility to the fullest and test the limits of ux/ui expertise.
